A . K . K . A FOUNDED 2005
A.K.K.A was founded in January 2005 to provide quality & affordable martial arts tuition for all, regardless of age, sex, race or ability. All profit made through student payments whether from membership, class fees or gradings are given to St Aidan's Pcc for community projects, working with local people to help fund the community centres facilities providing access to activities such as
parent & toddler group, computers for the over 55s & providing support for young adults with learning difficulties, these are just a few of the many projects we help to fund.
A.K.K.A Chief instructor Rob McCarthy started leaning martial arts in 1981 at the age of 6.
Rob has spent his whole life around martial arts gaining to date 17 Dan grades in various styles and disciplines. but his fondest memory was gaining his 1st dan at the age of 12 under Clayton Murrain chief instructor EWSKA . Rob is also a former british national champion in semi-contact fighting and Kata and is also former south yorkshire county champion to name a few. Rob has also trained a number of local and international champions including the former canadian world champion and various local and international competition winners.
Rob is a professional instructor and holds certificates in
First Aid, Health & Safety, Child Protection and has also qualified with distiction in Coaching and professional instructing with the health and safety executive HSE and the Institute of environmental health. Rob also hold a full enhanced disclosure CRB to work with children and vulnerable adults.
